Celebrating 25 years of Father Ted

  • 2 min read

As we all know by now, An Post released 4 stamps to celebrate 25 years since Father Ted first aired. They feature some of the most iconic phrases including ‘That’s Mad, Ted’ and ‘Will you have a cup of tea?’. So it had us thinking about our favourite phrases from the Irishify Father Ted cast. This week we wanted to celebrate 25 years of Father Ted, irishify style! As you may already know, we have a selection of Father Ted cast members available for personalised video shoutouts on irishify. There are some iconic and unforgettable lines from Father Stone, Father Damo and Eoin McLove that are still hilarious to this day. We have the 2020 versions below, check it out!

Father Stone - Michael Redmond

Michael Redmond was one of the first to join and he has been a huge hit with Father Ted fans worldwide. We have receieved requests for all sorts of occasions, from birthdays to anniversaries to get well soon messages. 'I'm Fine' is without a doubt his most iconic and famous line and if we could, we would definitely have it on a stamp!

Father Damo - Joe Rooney

25 years ago Joe Rooney played the part of Father Damo in Father Ted. Father Damo was the kind of bad influence who wore an earring, smoked cigarettes, and rebelled against his superiors insisting that they’re not the boss of him. He is one character that stands out to this day, and according to Joe Rooney he still gets Father Ted fans asking him the famous question ‘Oasis or Blur?’

Eoin McLove - Pat McDonnell

‘Go away, I don’t want to catch the menopause!’ and ‘I’ve no willy!’ are two of the most famous quotes from the Father Ted heart throb, Eoin McLove. Although we’re sure ‘I’ve no willy’ wouldn’t sit well on Irish stamps, that’s the one we all wanted to see!

Pat McDonnell joined in the first week we launched. Check out his video below!
