Held on January 20th, 1961, John F. Kennedy was sworn in as the 35th president of the United States of America. 

He was the first Catholic to become president, the youngest person elected to the office, and the first U.S. president to have been born in the 20th century. On top of that, all four of his grandparents were children of Irish immigrants.
